Antietam: Bloody September, 1862
a 1-2 player strategy game set during the American Civil War.
Following up on the success of the Second Battle of Bull Run, Confederate General Robert E. Lee decided to invade the North. There were several reasons for this. One, he hoped to rally the citizens of Maryland to the Southern Cause. Two, he hoped to relieve Virginia of enemy occupation. And, finally, he hoped a victory on Northern soil might gain diplomatic recognition from Europe.
Antietam: Bloody September, 1862 is volume five of Paul Koenig’s Bloody Civil War Series. It is a two-player wargame simulating the single bloodiest day in American history at Antietam Creek, 17 September 1862.
As the Union player, you command the mighty Army of the Potomac. You severely outnumber your opponent. However, you are hamstrung by McClellan, who does all he can to lose the battle. Can you defeat Bobby Lee despite the handicaps of your command? As the Confederate player, you must parry every move McClellan makes and look for every opportunity to strike a mortal blow of your own.
